Overview

​

Bookienook is a mobile application designed to help busy readers browse, purchase, and request books from local bookstores without needing to visit them physically. The app bridges the gap between readers and local bookstores by providing a convenient digital platform that saves time while supporting local businesses.

Problem Statement

​

Many readers face challenges such as knowing book availability, finding similar reads and struggling to make time to visit  bookstore.

Goal Statement

​

Design a mobile application that allows users to browse, discover, purchase books and also to place a request for the books that are unavailable.

User Research

​

A survey was conducted using Google Forms to know more about user pain points. The research findings are as follows:

Reading Preferences:

• Most participants preferred physical books over e-books.

• Books are often purchased once every six months or yearly.

Book Discovery

• Users typically discover books from social media and online searches.

​

Desired Features

• Ratings and reviews

• Book recommendations

• Book request functionality

Most participants indicated that they would be interested in using an app that connects them with local bookstores.

• Majority users prefer physical books over e-books.

• Users find it difficult to check the availability of books.

• Need convenient purchasing with less time taking.

• People would like book recommendations based on their reading.

• Need book request feature in the app.
